THREE SURFACING SYSTEMS — ALWAYS ON THE CUTTING EDGE

We install all three leading pickleball surface systems and stay current with every new technology entering the market. The right surface depends on your site, your soil, your climate, and how you play — and we'll advise you honestly on which system delivers the best long-term result for your specific situation.

Facility Upgrades & Conversions

Don't let unused tennis courts waste valuable land. We can convert one tennis court into four regulation pickleball courts.

    • Permanent Conversion: We remove old net posts, install new sleeves, resurface the slab, and install permanent dividers for a dedicated "Pickleball Complex" feel.
    • Shared-Use Hybrid: We can overlay pickleball lines on an existing tennis court using "blended lines" (a slightly darker shade) to keep the court usable for both sports.

Lighting & Fencing

    • LED Stadium Lighting: High-efficiency, "Dark Sky" compliant fixtures that allow for revenue-generating night play without polluting the neighborhood with light spill.
    • Commercial Fencing: Heavy-gauge, vinyl-coated chain link that resists rust and bending.

Court Builders Northern California - Commercial Outdoor - Peninsula Golf and Country Club - San Mateo, CA

Pickleball Court built for Peninsula Golf and Country Club in San Mateo, CA

We worked closely with the Country Club and the architect to specify the world class Pro Cushion (cushioned acrylic) Pickleball Surface for the PGCC (Peninsula Golf and Country Club new (5-court) pickleball facility. Court Builders Northern California was contracted to handle all the concrete foundation work, as well as the supply and installation of the Pro Cushion overlay surface, striping the pickleball games lines, and installing the pickleball posts and nets. This was a very intricate but fun project, and we were honored to take such a vital role in its creation!

Court Builders Northern California - Commercial Outdoor - ProLogis Campus - San Mateo, CA

Pickleball Court built for ProLogis Campus in San Mateo, CA

3 Custom pickleball courts were the heartbeat of this design for the ProLogis campus in Tracy. This area is in a high wind zone, so we had to engineer the fencing to support heavy wind loads on the fence and the windscreens. The 3 pickleball courts have our cushioned acrylic Cushion X / Pro Cushion rubber mat system, and were painted with flexible acrylic coatings from Plexipave. The colors were all custom made to match the pantone colors of the ProLogis logo.

Court Builders Northern California - Commercial Outdoor - Tahoe Recreation and Parks District - Tahoe, CA

Pickleball Court built for Tahoe Recreation and Parks District in Tahoe, CA

Custom designed multi court pickleball facility, designed for USA Pickleball and PPA Pickleball events, with the Pro Cushion / Cushion X glued down rubber mat system with flexible acrylic coatings, Laykold paint. Adjacent basketball courts also installed to create a complete multi-sport arena.

Court Builders Northern California - Commercial Outdoor - Woodside Priory School - Woodside, CA

Pickleball Court built for Woodside Priory School in Woodside, CA

Our team was asked to build a custom game court for a elementary and middle school in Woodside, CA for kids to play basketball, volleyball, badminton, and pickleball in a relatively smaller space. We were able to design a "one of a kind" design to maximize space and provide multiple areas of play for the students to enjoy safely.

SURFACE DETAILS

Modular Sport Tile — (Official Modular Surface of USA Pickleball): Ideal for cracked concrete, older courts, and HOA neighborhoods where noise reduction matters. Our Modular Sport Tile overlays existing slabs and bridges cracks permanently — they never return. Lateral Forgiveness™ technology absorbs lateral shock, reducing knee and joint impact. Self-draining design enables play within minutes of rain. 15+ year life expectancy with UV-stable colors.

Cushioned Acrylic — Pro Cushion™ / Cushion X™: Ideal for players seeking club-level feel and maximum injury protection. Multi-layer rubberized coatings are glued directly to the surface, reducing body impact by up to 15% and allowing longer play sessions with less fatigue. True, consistent ball response identical to professional hard courts. This is the system we installed for ProLogis Campus and the Tahoe Recreation and Parks District's tournament facility.

Standard Acrylic — Acrytech / Laykold Premium Coatings: Ideal for courts in good structural condition that need a color refresh, traction improvement, or custom color matching. We use premium 100% acrylic flexible coatings — the same systems used on ATP/WTA tour surfaces — capable of fully custom Pantone color matching for branded commercial installations. Note: if your court has significant cracking, we will recommend a structural solution first. A cosmetic coat over a compromised base will fail.

TENNIS-TO-PICKLEBALL CONVERSIONS

Have an underused tennis court? We convert a single tennis court into four regulation pickleball courts — a popular solution for HOAs and private clubs looking to dramatically increase amenity utilization and member engagement without new construction.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: How many pickleball courts fit on a tennis court?

A: You can comfortably fit four standard pickleball courts (20’ x 44’) on the footprint of one regulation tennis court (60’ x 120’), utilizing the existing lighting and fencing infrastructure.

Q: What is the maintenance cost for a commercial court?

A: It depends on the surface. Modular tile courts are virtually zero-maintenance (annual power wash). Acrylic courts typically require resurfacing every 5-7 years depending on foot traffic, which should be factored into your HOA reserve study.

Q: Do you handle ADA compliance?

A: Yes. All commercial public facilities must meet ADA accessibility standards. We design accessible pathways, gate entries, and spectator viewing areas to ensure your facility is compliant with federal and California state laws.

Q: Can you help with court layouts and permits?

A: Yes. As a General Engineering Contractor, we handle the entire feasibility phase—including city setback requirements, impervious coverage calculations, and permitting—taking the burden off your board or committee.
