Commercial Resilient Flooring Systems
The toughest surfaces for the toughest environments—Weight Rooms, Locker Rooms, and Multi-Use Facilities
Our Commercial Resilient Flooring Difference
Not every space needs a competition wood floor. For weight rooms, locker rooms, and high-traffic corridors, you need Resilient Flooring—surfaces designed to absorb impact, resist moisture, and withstand heavy abuse.
Court Builders Northern California supplies and installs premium rubber and vinyl systems from industry leaders like ECORE. Whether you are protecting a subfloor from dropped dumbbells or need a waterproof solution for a locker room, we have the engineered surface to match the demand.
Performance Rubber Flooring (ECORE)
Rubber is the gold standard for strength and safety in training environments.
1. Weight Room & Strength Flooring
-
- Impact Absorption: ECORE’s vulcanized rubber layers absorb the shock of dropped weights, protecting both the equipment and the concrete slab underneath.
- Acoustic Dampening: Essential for second-story gyms. The dense rubber matrix significantly reduces vibration and noise transfer to the floors below.
- Slip Resistance: Provides superior grip for athletes performing heavy lifts, even when sweaty.
2. Interlocking Rubber Tiles
Perfect for retrofits or irregular shaped rooms. These heavy-duty tiles puzzle-lock together for a seamless look without the need for permanent adhesive, allowing for easy replacement if damaged.

Resilient Vinyl & Multi-Purpose
1. Multi-Purpose Sheet Vinyl
For cafeterias, hallways, and multi-use active rooms (yoga, aerobics), we install resilient sheet vinyl. It offers a softer feel underfoot than VCT or concrete, cleans easily, and is available in realistic wood grains or solid colors.
2. Locker Room & Wet Areas
We install waterproof, textured resilient flooring designed specifically for wet environments. These surfaces prevent slip-and-fall accidents and are impervious to mold and mildew, making them ideal for locker rooms, showers, and pool decks.
Why Choose Resilient Flooring?
-
- Extreme Durability: Resistant to gouging, scratching, and indentation from heavy static loads (like gym equipment).
- Hygiene: Non-porous surfaces that are easy to sanitize and resist bacterial growth (Staph/MRSA).
- Ergonomics: Provides anti-fatigue properties for staff or athletes standing for long periods.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: What is the difference between Rubber and Vinyl flooring?
A: Rubber (like ECORE) is designed for impact. It is the best choice for weight rooms, ice rinks, and areas where heavy objects will be dropped. Vinyl is designed for multi-use. It is smoother, easier to clean, and better suited for cafeterias, hallways, or yoga studios where aesthetics and hygiene are the priority.
Q: Can I drop heavy weights on this flooring?
A: Yes, but you must choose the right thickness. For free-weight areas, we recommend a minimum 8mm to 14mm thick vulcanized rubber system. These are engineered to absorb the shock of dropped dumbbells, protecting both your equipment and the concrete slab beneath from cracking.
Q: Is resilient flooring waterproof?
A: Yes. Both rubber and vinyl are non-porous materials. For areas like locker rooms or showers, we use specific installation methods (such as heat-welded seams) to create a watertight seal that prevents mold and mildew from growing underneath the floor.
Q: Can you install rubber flooring over carpet?
A: No. Resilient flooring must be installed over a hard, flat surface like concrete or wood. Installing over carpet will cause the joints to separate and create a trip hazard. We can handle the removal of your old flooring as part of our installation service.
